Why Eco?

We want to be the change we want to see in the world

I don’t need to say why it is important to live more sustainably – we all know that fossil fuels are running out and that human activity has had a devastating effect on the environment but it is not too late to make a significant change for future generations simply by making positive consumer choices and by being more energy efficient in our daily routine (Click here to find out more – lots of helpful tips!)

By choosing organic cotton clothing, bedding etc you avoiding the excessive use of pesticides and other nasty chemicals which is better for the environment and for the health of the workers on the farms. By using eco-friendly paints, cleaning products and household goods we are lowering our exposure to toxins in the home. By buying paper products from well managed sources, FSC for example, means that natural resources aren't depleted. By choosing recycled glassware means that we're keeping rubbish out of landfill sites and giving it a useful second life.

I know that all too often this means spending more I always struggle to persuade my other-half to buy organic chicken when it’s 3 times the price. This is where miki aims to be different, I try to keep prices reasonable and in line with quality high street chains.

I want to provide people with timeless pieces that go against the current ‘throw away fashion’ trend – pieces that you can keep, treasure and pass down. This doesn’t mean you miss out on style and this combined with a selection of on trend items will mean your home will always look its best whilst insistently sticking to ethical principles.

If you are like us then being surrounded by good design makes you happy. We want to be the change we want to see in the world. This means making sure that the people who make our products are also happy, and that from crop to final product the best environmental practices are used.
We aren't here to promote a righteous lifestyle but to show that by making small changes to the way we shop we can make positive changes to peoples and the planets well being.
